Kate Mays is an associate attorney in the Civil Litigation practice group of Ahmad Zaffarese LLC. Kate has extensive experience in commercial litigation and civil rights litigation. 

Prior to joining Ahmad Zaffarese, Kate was an Assistant City Solicitor in the Civil Rights Unit for the City of Philadelphia where she defended the City and municipal employees in both state and federal court in matters regarding Section 1983, municipal liability, and state law tort claims. Prior to her time as an Assistant City Solicitor, Kate was an associate with Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller where she represented insurers in coverage and bad faith disputes with regard to D&O, general liability, and healthcare lines of coverage. Kate also worked in the Appeals and Post-Conviction Relief Units of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office where she drafted seventy appellate briefs and argued five cases before the Pennsylvania Superior Court. 

Kate earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where she was a Staff Editor of the Temple Law Review. During law school, Kate was involved in the Sheller Center for Social Justice where she successfully represented construction employees in a wage loss dispute. She also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable David R. Strawbridge, Magistrate Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Kate earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Susquehanna University, where she was the captain of the women’s swim team.
